Free up space in your oven this Christmas by making this succulent Potato Dauphinoise in the airfryer. The ultimate festive side dish!
We often focus on the big supplies items for Christmas like turkey, ham, whinge etc. But in my opinion side dishes are the real heroes of festive meals. Get a couple of really succulent side dishes on the table and it can hoist your Christmas dinner to flipside level!
Potato Dauphinoise is a favourite of mine but until now I’ve rarely made it at Christmas as there just isn’t unbearable space in the oven for everything. So I decided to try it in the airfryer instead and wow! It was incredible!
The first step is to peel and chop your potatoes into ½cm slices. If you slice them too thick then they won’t cook. And slice them too thin, they’ll end up breaking up and you’ll be left with linty mash instead!
Also segregate small to medium sized potatoes so the slices don’t end up too large.
Make up the linty sauce by subtracting milk, single surf and nutmeg to a jug withal with salt and pepper.
Add a layer of the sliced potatoes to the marrow of an oven proof dish, followed by some chopped garlic and a little of the surf mixture.
Keep repeating these layers until all the ingredients have been added.
Place the dish in the airfryer and melt at 200c for 30 minutes.
I stopped the airfryer three times whilst cooking to mix up the potatoes. This will stop the top layer of potatoes from getting too brown and crispy.
You could moreover place a layer of tin foil round the top instead.
After 30 minutes, add grated gruyere cheese to the top. You could moreover use grated cheddar or parmesan too.
Cook for a remoter 5 minutes.
When ready, add some chopped fresh parsley to the top and serve immediately.
So succulent and veritably perfect for Christmas Day!
