While there is most likely a long list of things you should remember, like who the Secretary of State is and how to balance a checkbook, we’re willing to bet you can list a whole bunch of restaurants, bars, and cafes from your favorite TV shows. Here are some of the most memorable ones that we would love to kick back and relax in. Did your favorite make the cut?
Central Perk
So many people tuned in every week to watch Rachel, Phoebe, Monica, Ross, Chandler, and Joey spend time at Central Perk, discussing their latest antics and making plenty of memories. Who can forget the classic cafe where “Smelly Cat” and “How you doin'” first appeared in our lives? Best of all, you can now visit a replica in New York City, so diehard fans can get a photo on the iconic orange couch while sipping on a delicious coffee.
Cheers
Sometimes you have to go where everybody knows your name, and the great thing is that you can actually visit Cheers in real life. While it’s not exactly the same one from the show, you can certainly get the same feel of the bar if you’re ever in Boston. This cozy bar run by Sam Malone with bartender Carla, and regulars Diane, Fraser, Norm, Cliff, Coach, and Woody, Cheers truly feels like home away from home.
Monk’s
Jerry, Elaine, George, and Kramer spent countless moments talking about pretty much nothing at Monk’s, a diner located in the Upper West Side, conveniently located just around the corner from Jerry’s place. While they visited other restaurants while on the show, like the Chinese restaurant, Monk’s will always be the iconic setting for this beloved show.
MacLaren’s Pub
MacLaren’s was the early 2000’s hit show How I Met Your Mother‘s answer to Friends’ Central Perk. Instead of showing the group hanging out at a coffee shop, they spend a majority of their time making crazy bets, swapping stories, and engaging in general hilarity all over a beer at MacLaren’s. If you want to visit, you can take a trip to McGee’s, the real life bar in New York City that inspired the show’s version.
Joe’s Bar
Any Grey’s Anatomy fan will recognize this name and instantly smile. Joe’s Bar is the place where the interns, doctors, and medical staff on the show go to blow off some steam, which they totally deserve given the fact that on top of being in the medical field, they seemed to have experienced any major catastrophe life could possibly throw your way. It’s also where Meredith first met McDreamy.
Luke’s Diner
Luke’s Diner was like a second home to Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, where they got their beloved coffee fix along with endless donuts, pancakes, hamburgers, and pretty much any other delicious diner fare that Luke would (sometimes reluctantly) fix up for them. So many of their iconic conversations took place here, and it is an absolutely integral part of the show.
